Creative Blogger Award - True or False?

Here are the answers to the quiz I set a day or two ago:

1. I once worked as a cleaner in a mental asylum.

TRUE - I did this when I was a student, and it was an amazing and worthwhile experience.

2. My mother was a wart charmer.

TRUE - this was chosen by many as my lie, but, strange as it seems, my mum really was a wart charmer for a time. What that means is that she would rub people's warts and blemishes and they would disappear. It started as a joke with a neightbour's child, who had small blemishes on his face and my mum knew the old folk story about wart-charmers being able to 'cure' them and so she offered to do so for the child. She said later she thought it was the child's belief that made the warts vanish, but disappear they did. She once 'charmed' the warts on the hands of a doctor, who sent her flowers as a thank you when they disappeared.

3. My favourite colour is pink.

TRUE. Pink, and after that yellow, are my favourite colours.

4. I can play 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' on the violin.

TRUE. It's a simple piece and one of the first a student of the fiddle often is given to play. The way the strings are, the key of 'Twinkle twinkle' happens to make the piece a matter of playing between two strings and coming down the scale on one string only.

5. I once had two rings stolen from me and then later returned.

TRUE. When I was 15, a thief broke into my parents' home and made off with several items, including my rings. He was later caught and my rings returned.

6. I learned to drive a car when I was nine.

FALSE. My dad learned to drive when he was nine (with wooden blocks on his feet to allow him to reach the pedals), but there is simply too much road traffic in the UK for youngsters to do that now - quite apart from it being illegal!

7. Venice is one of my favourite cities.

TRUE - I fell in love with Venice the instant I walked from the train station into that amazing view and those canals.

Congratulations to Savanna Kougar and Bekki Lynn, who are joint winners. Please email me to let me know which of my ebooks you would like as a prize.

Thanks again to to Stacey Espino for nominating me as a bare-faced liar (sorry, creative blogger), and thanks to all of you who took part.

Lindsay

You kept me guessing right until the end.

I really thought it was #1 in the end.

But I know what you mean about UK traffic.

What a fun blog

This was fun to read, Lindsay! I thought like most that the first one was false. But that's the way to play it!

Lindsay, you're really good at this...uhum...Creative Writer thing.

I've got my Creative Writer blog ready to post on May 22.

So fascinating about your Mum. I'd heard of that being done before, but never knew anyone who actually did it. Though, I've seen other magical miraculous healings using touch. On rare occasions I've done them.

Well dang! I thought the car was a no-brainer!

LINDSAY--I guessed the wart charmer but hesitated when I did. People who could make warts disappear live all over the world, I guess, because my mother said she knew of one. Ever have a wart? You rarely see or hear of them anymore--right? They're cause by a virus--I had one as a kid and so did everyone else I knew!--and we were told it came from a frog peeing on us!It appeared and a week or so later, it was gone. Nasty, icky things.
