Romance Mind Travels

I’ve always been enthralled with the idea of traveling. It would be a dream come true if I could visit every place and culture on our blue marble planet, Earth.
Heck, if they were offering interplanetary tours I’d want to go.
I also like to mind travel as in reading that great book or dreaming up my own stories. In a way that’s what writing my romance novels is for me, a way to mind travel to different worlds and other cultures.

In Lady Sheridan and Baron Zaggry’s love story, ALL SHADES OF BLUE PARADISE, I mind-traveled to an aristocratic world where the color blue is considered sacred. This is a world where the royals prevailed throughout history because they change and learn compassion. They don’t rule with iron fists, but because they provide the means to a good life for All.

In Sun Rocket and Draxen’s love story, RED LIONESS TAMED, I mind-traveled to my own space opera set in the Earth year, 3051. Sun Rocket is a lioness shifter who lives on a Mars moon and chases down bad cat shifters throughout the galaxy. However, the story takes place on Captain Draxen Z’s intergalactic cruiser where Sun Rocket has been accidently trapped.

In Sedona and Volcano’s love story, WHEN A GOOD ANGEL FALLS, I mind-traveled into the near future, a few days around December 21, 2012, the Endtimes. This entire story was a mind trip, sans any drug, into the past, present and future of my Boomer generation. Plus, exploring Volcano’s angelic realm, now that was divine traveling.

In Corporal Katta and Prince Zio’s love story, TANGERINE CARNAL DREAMS, I mind-traveled to a far distant galaxy, specifically a strangely formed world that glows with a tangerine light that is aphrodisiac in nature. It’s a galactic playground, of course, and the guests are various races. Creating the culture of this tangerine world took a lot of imaginative mind travels.

In Kalypso and Zryphus’ love story, MURDER BY HAIR SPRAY IN GARDENIA, NEW ATLANTIS, I mind-traveled to the colonized, risen land of Atlantis in the year, 2051. Wow, talk about a far-out good time. I mean, Atlantis, the legend, has been pure magic to me ever since I learned about it, and creating this new world was a joy, even though the writing process was exceptionally intense, at times.

In Sable and Devon’s love story, BLACK CAT BEAUTY, I mind-traveled to the Hollywood hills and inside a gothic mansion for a posh Halloween party, given in honor of Devon Zant, rising movie star. He seems to hate cats. Sable, a black cat shifter, crashes the party on a mission to find out why. Was this story ever a fun Halloween adventure for my mind.

CHRONTROPOLIS is the name of the bay city in my superhero romance novel. Yeah, talk about some serious mind traveling... I created a world destroyed by weather wars where superheroes have emerged, about ten percent of the remaining population. Not only do I get to visit the culture as it rebuilds, but I get to travel inside the minds of my superhero characters, and pretend to be that powerful.

In Sedona and Trail’s love story, STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME ~ my upcoming release from Siren-BookStrand ~ I mind-traveled beside and sometimes astride Trail. Here’s the blurb ~

Drojovv Zyan of the V’Trailuc Realm is a man-stallion of ash and flame on a mission to save his world’s crucial Earth portal from the fires ravaging the National Forest surrounding it. Pretending to be the tracker, Trail, he settles in a small southeastern Arizona town. When he gets an eyeful of the beautiful ranch owner, Seneca, he stud lusts after the Earth human, a woman he’s not supposed to take as his Mate.

Trail leaves her alone until her brother is in a bad motorcycle accident and she needs a hired hand. Soon both of them are threatened by a whole horde of enemies. At all costs Trail must protect her. His world depends on it, her world depends on it. And his heart comes to depend on it.

Enthralling, Savanna! I love the worlds you take us to in your writing. I love the cosmic scope of your travel. I really admire the way you create worlds and cultures and whole histories. I too am an Atlantis fan! I am really looking forward to your latest release, STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME! The whole concept appeals to me and I can't wait!

Blue is sacred to me, too ... it's very calming to the soul. ;-)

I don't have the brainwave that would allow me to create sci fi worlds and always have to wonder how authors do it. It's a bit like abstract art, I think. Interesting story lines, Savanna.

Well, I'm sitting here in open-mouthed awe. I don't know how you do it, Savanna, but I love it that you do!! Your writing is so clever and so much fun, and I love the way your worlds appear in my mind's eye like a graphic novel.
You have a WONDERFUL imagination! What a fantastic way to 'travel.' :)

Lindsay, thanks! Stallion does have a suspenseful plot. I'd love to know what you think about it.

LK, you may be right in that abstract thinking and feeling are certainly involved. For example, I'm not too good at painting realistically, but I can do fantasy impressionist stuff.

Hi Jane, I always look forward to your comments. It is rather like a graphic novel in that I visualize so much of what I write.

Danielle, my imagination has always served me well. For sure.
