There's nothing like a gentle walk to fill the writer's mind with new ideas. Wandering down an English country lane in the spring sunshine. Strolling along a river bank, watching swans gliding along under the willows.
Leaning over a bridge as cheerily-painted boats bob in the water. Fresh air, exercise and companionship and afterwards a thumping great sandwich and a mug of tea. There's nothing like it.
If you think this is just an excuse to show a few pictures from a weekend afternoon away in the West Country, you're dead right.
Denizens of Devon will recognise the area within easy wandering distance of the Quayside at Exeter, and the lane is not too many miles away. Lovely.

Where do you like to walk?
Such beautiful photos, Lindsay!
If I can get there, which isn't often, I love walking along the ocean, any ocean!
I agree, Kaye! There is something very special about the sea and walking by the sea.
My hubby took the pics!
Oh, what great pictures. Looks like a beautiful area. And I love the swans. Did you see any ducks?
Oh, I'll have to return often just to vicariously go on this walk. Swans...sigh... love watching them.
I do enjoy making the trek down to the mailbox when I'm up to it... nature is always beautiful.
Wonderful pics, Lindsay. It's good to get away occasionally.
Beautiful, Lindsay! We've been walking around 3 different local parks, all with water features. If I could, I'd walk along a beach any day!
Thanks, Linda - yes, we did see ducks!!
Thanks, Savanna, nature is so delicious.
Thanks, Linda - we'd like to get away more, if we can.
Thanks, LK. I love water features!
