For a sweet fae paranormal read, check out Kiss Me, I'm Irish.

In 1830, Emily Musgrave is heading to a convent for misbehavior. In modern-day Tennessee, Liam Jackson is playing his Dobro in seedy bars. It's doing nothing for his career and even less for the dark places in his soul.

Pixie mischief can not only change time-lines, it can change hearts. Because sometimes a girl just needs a little magic in her life.

Thanks Lindsay for doing this. I recognize a few authors from my TBR pile. My book Fiona features the heroine's late fiance trying to find a living replacement. Here's the blurb: Searching for her missing aunt and uncle, self-reliant American heiress Fiona Grey needs the reclusive Marquess of Kingslee to introduce her to the upper echelon of London society. But Kingslee knows her type—rich, spoilt and on the prowl for a husband. Despite the lure of intrigue surrounding Fiona and her missing family members, he wants nothing to do with her…until a murderer begins to take interest.

Can he live with himself if he turns his back on Fiona because he’s afraid to risk his heart?

My latest book is not ready to buy yet, and is actually A Science Fiction Romance. It surely has that spooky feel to it, so I'll just share an excerpt:

AN ALIEN PRESENCE

…As Karla neared the door to her sleeping quarters, a shiver ran the length of her body. That same eerie sensation that something watched her surfaced again. She pushed open the sliding door and went inside. The feeling grew stronger.

“I’m here, Karla. Over here.” Raspy words filled the tiny space.

Her heart kicked up several notches. “Who the hell are you? And how did you get onto my station?” She reached for a switch and sent light beaming into the quarters.

Still nothing was there. She felt it—him, but saw no one…

Her attention drew to the corner of the room and she watched as his form went from invisible to solid before her eyes.

He moved closer.

She stood her ground as her hand searched for a Stunner Zap. If she could discharge a strike against his body he would become immobilized for a short time. At least she would have an edge over this intruder. She grasped the long slim object.

Quickly and without hesitation she jerked it around and pointed it directly at his chest.

“Get away from me,” she yelled, “I’ll use this if I have to!”
~~~
I hope everyone has a spooky fun Halloween! And thank you Lindsay for inviting authors to share!
Hi Lindsay!
I've got several paranormal reads out there right now but a lot of them are holiday-themed for Christmas. Anyhow, here's what I have in the way of short stories:
Homecoming by Cheryl Pierson
A holiday skirmish sends Union officer, Jack Durham, on an unlikely mission to fulfill his promise of honor to a dying Confederate soldier—his enemy. In an odd twist of fate, a simple assurance to carry young Billy Anderson's meager belongings home to his family a few miles away becomes more than what it seems.
As he nears his destination, the memories of the soldier's final moments mingle with his own thoughts of the losses he's suffered because of the War, including his fiancee, Sarah. Despite his suffering, can Jack remember what it means to be fully human before he arrives at the end of his journey? Will the miracle of Christmas be able to heal his heart in the face of what awaits him?
SCARLET RIBBONS by Cheryl Pierson
Miguel Rivera is known as El Diablo, The Devil. Men avoid meeting his eyes for fear of his gun. Upon returning to a town where he once knew a brief happiness, Miguel is persuaded by a street vendor to make a foolish holiday purchase; two scarlet ribbons.When Catalina, his former lover, allows him to take a room at her boarding house, Miguel soon discovers a secret. Realizing that he needs the scarlet ribbons after all, he is stunned to find them missing. Can a meeting with a mysterious priest and the miracle of the Scarlet Ribbons set Miguel on a new path?
A NIGHT FOR MIRACLES is a novella available through THE WILD ROSE PRESS. This story takes place in Indian Territory of the 1800’s. A widow takes in a wounded gunman and three children on Christmas Eve. The small gifts she gives them all reveal something even more precious for all of them on A NIGHT FOR MIRACLES.
MEANT TO BE is a time travel set on the last Christmas of the Civil War, in 1864. A young single woman, Robin Mallory, from present day sets out to pay a surprise holiday visit to her elderly relatives. When one of her tires blows out, she finds herself stranded on a lonely stretch of road with no one to call for help.
NEW RELEASE: 2011 CHRISTMAS COLLECTION
My story in this one is called MEANT TO BE, and here's what it's about:
When a handsome ‘Confederate soldier’ tackles her in the early evening shadows, Robin is outraged and frightened. Jake Devlin is dressed from a time gone by, but what are re-enactors doing in these woods over the Christmas weekend? When the predicted winter storm moves in, Robin has no alternative but to take a chance and trust Jake.
Jake’s presence is comforting, and Robin welcomes the sanctuary from the raw night that his camp offers. But something isn’t right. Once they arrive at the camp, she realizes she’s walked down a gravel road that’s taken her backward in time nearly 150years. Jake is an officer of the Confederate Army, serving under Cherokee Chief, General Stand Watie.
Unsure of Robin’s motives and who she is, the general puts her in Jake’s care. When they are separated from the rest of the unit, Jake is severely wounded. What will Robin do? Will she seize the only opportunity she may have to return to her own time? Or will she stay in 1864 with Jake and take a chance on a love that was MEANT TO BE?
MEANT TO BE appears in the Victory Tales Press Sensual/Spicy 2011 Christmas Collection anthology, along with four other great stories by my fellow authors, Kit Prate, Stephanie Burkhart, Christine Schulze, and Sarah McNeal.
Here's the Amazon link for all of these.
If you want a hot paranormal read, check out DEMON RYDER.
Blurb -
Retrieving an unauthorized alien from Demopolis, the demon city which lies beneath the streets of downtown Chicago, shouldn’t be a problem for Agent Camille Stevenson - not when she’s a former police officer and a telepath. But as soon as she sets foot underground, she discovers her first solo assignment will not be an easy one. Throw her ill-timed attraction to a secretive, sexy stranger in the mix and she’ll be lucky to escape with her life – let alone her heart.
Head of the peacekeeping force in Demopolis, Ryder Endemar has enough problems policing demons while making sure U.S. citizens remain unaware of the other world beneath their feet. A headstrong agent who believes she can handle herself in any situation is the last thing he needs – especially when she’s the boss’ s daughter and hot as Hell.
Hi again, Lindsay and everyone,
I wanted to put up a blurb for my paranormal novel, TIME PLAINS DRIFTER.
If you can't get enough paranormal reading, try my latest novel, TIME PLAINS DRIFTER, a WESTERN TRAIL BLAZER publication. Here’s the blurb for this time travel story of good vs. evil.
Trapped in Indian Territory of 1895 by a quirk of nature, high school teacher Jenni Dalton must find a way to get her seven students back to 2010. Handsome U.S. Marshal Rafe d’Angelico seems like the answer to her prayers; he is, after all, an angel. In a race against time and evil, Rafe has one chance to save Jenni’s life and her soul from The Dark One—but can their love survive?
Hi
I have two, and I'm giving away a pdf copy of both to the first 3 replies-
For a really spooky read on a cold October night, get your copy of Spellbound 2011.
Eight spine-chilling tales of ghosts, werewolves and vampires. I dare you to read it.
http://www.melange-books.com/authors/anthologies/Spellbound2011.html
Or how about this one?
Nobody ever goes upstairs in Margaret’s house. So what is making the strange thumping noises up there? And why is there a toy rabbit under the kitchen table?
Margaret’s Ghost is just one of a collection of short stories consisting mainly of horror and science fiction, ranging from a classic gothic tale – Jack Trevellyn – to the Wyndhamesque Victim of Fortune, and the modern Waiting for Daddy, with its spine-chilling twist.
There is also the occasional excursion into romance with A Castle in Spain and Jess’s Girl.
But most of these tales take you to a place which is not quite as it seems.
It’s bedtime now. Time to go upstairs. Time to take a look.
Just one look.
WARNING: Do not exceed the stated dose.
For your free pdfs, reply to casahoya@gmail.com and put Halloween giveaway in the title.
Thanks so much. My young adult paranormal psychic thriller Dark Before Dawn was just released. It's available for 99 cents for Kindle, Nook and more as a special Halloween promotion, and it's also available in paperback - my web site has a coupon for $3 off through the publisher.
Dawn Christian has been psychic since she was seven years old and has always considered herself an outcast. Even her own mother discourages her talent, so Dawn has kept her abilities quiet and feared a lifetime of loneliness. When she gets involved with a fortuneteller and two teenage girls who share her mysterious perception, Dawn finally belongs to a group.
As her intuition strengthens, so does Dawn’s self esteem. However, when she learns her new friends may be tied to two bizarre murders, she has an important choice to make – continue developing the talent that makes her special, or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her.
If you want a ghost AND some funny for Halloween, I've got Aria in Ice up for .99 cents at Amazon until end of October (yeah, not that much longer!)
Details:
Scouting for a “must be chilly/must be spooky” medieval castle in Prague to use as the background for a musical film based on a Gothic novel is, to quote Gershwin, “nice work if you can get it.”
Dancer Abby Fouchet, acting as location scout for film company Headlights Productions has “got” it. She’s also got her soap star fiancĂ© playing wannabe burglar, a psychic with more costumes than a Broadway touring company, assorted film divas and grave-robbers popping up around Kouzlo Noc, Abby’s choice for the atmospherically creepy castle.
Then there’s the ghost. Ignatz Jezek, flautist and craftsman (who died in 1792 ) is providing musical accompaniment primarily from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, an opera dear to Jezek’s departed heart. Abby is the only one being entertained by flute music because along with her gifts of second-sight Abby has the unique and often maddening ability to “hear” spirits.
Throw murder into the mix of cast, crew and and Abby’s “nice work” may just end up getting her as cold as Kouzlo Noc and Ignatz Jezek.
Thanks for the opportunity! I guess we all love things that go bump in the night-lol. Here is the description of my Halloween spicy paranormal.
All Hollow's Eve by Melissa L. Robert (my alter ego)
Heather Merwin has spent most of her adult life trying to escape her family’s past, one that included legends she no longer believed in. Except every night around Halloween, she dreams of making love with a mysterious man on horseback.
A teacher in New York in the eighteenth century, William Crane was in love with the sister of local Jesse Merwin. After a night of passion, they planned to run away, but were discovered by Jesse. Since William had taken his sister’s maidenhead, he decided the punishment must fit the crime. With the help of a local witch, Jesse Merwin cursed Crane.
Now the Horseman rides again, determined to find the one woman who can break his curse. But Heather’s dream lover also turns out to be her nightmare, since she is the descendent of Jesse. Can she overcome her reservations and break the curse? Or will she lose him forever?
